This elected position, Register of Wills, administers the transfer of generational wealth here in Philly. The current register has been there for 40 years!
I’m just asking for 4.

I am running for The Register of Wills of Philadelphia because our citizens need change in this office now. I have a proven track record of community engagement that has been a catalyst for substantive change to the benefit of our citizens. I’ve had the honor of serving as an elected committee person and former deputy commissioner where I used my ability to drive change through progressive ideas and a willingness to fight for people in need. I plan to bring that same approach to the office of the Register of Wills. The City of Philadelphia currently has thousands of residents that are in jeopardy of losing their family homes due to “tangled titles” that result in mortgage and tax foreclosures. I intend to create a clear pathway to untangle the bureaucratic process for people who are usually at their most vulnerable state while attempting to settle a loved ones estate. It will take fresh eyes, bold leadership, comprehensive education initiatives and compassionate advocacy. I plan to aggressively provide these much needed service opportunities to all affected communities

Within the next 25 years, over $68 trillion in wealth will be transferred from Boomers to younger generations (the largest wealth transfer in American history). I come from a generation that took pride in homeownership, and it is in my interest as the register of wills to protect that tradition for all Philadelphians by introducing comprehensive probate reform. - Tracey Gordon
